ONA targets education and research as top priorities

By Shelley Orman

Online News Association members targeted three major areas of focus for the coming year at their membership and activities meeting Saturday. They include curriculum and training, mentorship for students, and research. In the future, ONA would like to put student and educational programs at the forefront of its mission.

Members also discussed increases in membership and detailed other future goals. The board stressed the importance of volunteerism for the organization’s future success. Jonathon Dube, ONA membership chair, said, “ONA is an organization run by volunteers – it’s important to get new people involved. All our members make our organization what it is.”

The meeting concluded with a call for volunteers in each of the three main areas of focus.
