The Media Center at the American Press Institute is presenting its
first-ever public webcast:
We Media: The Impact of Participatory Media on Election 2004
October 5, 2-3:00 ET, on the Internet
Through blogs, interactive Web sites and other emerging social networks, the audience has joined the opinion-making media. This is the world of We Media - a participatory, diverse environment of opinions, ideas, journalism and activism that may change the nature of electoral politics. Will it?
For this online event, our host will be blogger extraordinaire, Jason Calancanis, chairman and co-founder of the Weblogs Inc. Network.
He will be joined by a panel comprised of:
Markos Moulitsas Zúniga, founder, author and editor of The Daily Kos, one of the top political Web logs in the United States with over 3 million visits each month, and who was instrumental in the design and implementation of the Internet strategy used so successfully by the Dean campaign.
Jehmu Greene, president of Rock the Vote Foundation, which is applying creativity and innovation to the use of online polls, wireless alerts and other interactive tools to generate interest and participation in the 2004 elections.
Stephen Bromberg, executive editor of FOXnews.com, which has added interactive election features such as You Decide 2004 and has seen its Web traffic soar this election season.
Retha Hill, founding chief editorial officer and vice president of content development for BET.com, which was twice voted "Best African American Community Site" in Yahoo! Internet Life magazine, named the 2003 Best Online News Project award by the National Association of Black Journalists, and is the highest-trafficked African-American site on the Internet.
Dan Froomkin, who writes WashingtonPost.com's "White House Briefing" column, a daily romp through the day's White House-related items from newspaper, magazine and broadcast Web sites, Weblogs and elsewhere.
