Holger Hank: From DW-WORLD.DE to Distribution

ONA member Holger Hank has been named head of the recently established New Media department under Deutsche Welle's Distribution Directorate. The main goal of the department is to increase web-based distribution for DW-WORLD.DE, DW-TV and DW-RADIO.

Prior to the New Media appointment, Hank was editorial director of DW's online presence DW-WORLD.DE and was one of the driving forces behind the expansion of DW-WORLD's Internet offering in 30 languages. At DW-WORLD he was also responsible for the launch of an extensive Arabic online offering, the development of content for DW's mobile services and the introduction of podcasting at Deutsche Welle.

Hank has been at Deutsche Welle since 1993. After university studies in philosophy and linguistics in London and Edinburgh he worked for the ARD radio group and various newspapers before commencing his journalistic traineeship at Deutsche Welle. Between 1994 and 2000 he was editor and presenter of current affairs programs at Deutsche Welle's German radio service.
