12th Annual EPpy™ Awards Entry Period Extended to March 2, 2007
EPpy™ entries must be submitted through the e-commerce application designed for that purpose, at www.eppyawards.com. The EPpy site can also be accessed from the Web sites of Editor & Publisher (www.editorandpublisher.com) and Mediaweek (www.mediaweek.com). The EPpy Awards™ e-commerce site features automatic, secure credit card processing and a shopping cart to facilitate multiple entries in a single transaction.
The EPpy Awards will be presented at an awards luncheon at the Interactive Media Conference and Trade Show at the Radisson Hotel Miami on Friday, May 24, 2007. The conference and trade show are also jointly sponsored by E&P and Mediaweek.
A total of 33 awards will be presented. There are three for best overall media-affiliated Web sites: for newspapers, magazines, and TV/cable concerns. Each of these categories has two competitions, for large and small company Web sites. In the newspaper category, the dividing line between large and small Web sites is 1 million unique monthly users. The TV-Cable category is split between network and local affiliate Web sites. The magazine category is split between national magazines and regional/local magazines.
Eppys™ will be given to both large (more than 1 million unique monthly users) and small (fewer than 1 million unique monthly users) media-affiliated Web sites in the following categories:
Best News Web Site
Best Sports Web Site
Best Business Web Site
Best Entertainment Web Site
Best Special Feature in a Web Site – News or Event
Best Special Feature in a Web Site -- Enterprise

Among the other EPpys to be handed out this year: the new Spanish-language award, the best blog award, the award for the best community/suburban newspaper Web site, and the best Web site sponsored by a college newspaper. And, finally, an EPpy for Individual Achievement will also be presented to someone in the industry who has made a lasting contribution to both his or her company and the business overall.
Contest fees are $150 per entry, except in the College category, where each entry is $50. There is no entry fee to nominate an individual for the Individual Achievement Award.
The judging of the EPpy™Awards will be conducted by senior executives from all the major media who have a special interest in Web services. Finalists in each of the categories will be announced in April, and the winners will be honored at the EPpy™ Awards Luncheon in Miami.
