The Carter Center in Atlanta, GA provides six one-year fellowships for journalists to study a selected topic regarding mental health or mental illnesses.

The Fellowships are designed to enhance understanding of mental health issues and combat stigma and discrimination. Each journalist awarded will receive a $10,000 stipend.

Applicants must have at least three years experience in print or electronic journalism, submit an application packet (packet found online), and attend orientation and presentation meetings in September at the beginning and end of the Fellowship year. Fellows will not be required to leave their current employment.

The postmark deadline for applications is April 23, 2007. Please consult our website www.cartercenter.org for further information.
