Nowpublic.Com Names Rachel Nixon As Global News Director

NowPublic.com, the world’s largest participatory news network, today named BBCNews.com veteran Rachel Nixon as its Global News Director, where she will oversee editorial operations of NowPublic’s correspondents in 3,600 cities across more than 140 countries.

Ms. Nixon is a renowned, award-winning journalist with a special expertise in multi-platform media and emerging journalism practices. An early convert to the power and potential of online news media, Ms. Nixon has spent the past nine years with BBCNews.com, where, most recently, she served as Deputy World Editor, overseeing a staff of 45. Ms. Nixon has garnered many awards and distinctions, including a Webby, a European Online Journalism Award and the BBC World Service Editor of the Year Award in 2007.

“The NowPublic team has blazed trails from Day One and clearly mainstream media is now embracing the media model that NowPublic originated,” said Ms. Nixon. “I look forward to helping NowPublic further define the standards for news in an increasingly digital global community where everyone has the power to report.”
