"Reader photo gallery all-stars"

Like a number of sites, we allow readers to upload photos. We've started a weekly feature, "Reader gallery all-stars," at http://www.azstarnet.com/special/galleryallstars

The photographers profiled there are also featured in our Sunday lifestyle section (in print), along with a handful of their photos. So it's a reverse publishing concept.

The profile includes a link to the photographer's entire portfolio in our gallery, in slide show format.

We have a few pre-determined questions we ask the photographers to fill out for us, to fill out the profile. Generally, we talk to them by phone, too, just as part of the vetting procedure.

We determine which photographers to feature, in part, by the reader ratings of photos on the site. Registered site users can click to give photos a ranking of one to five stars. We generate a list of all the reader gallery photographers' average scores.
