Overall, more women than men use social networking sites. No surprise there. But did you know the disparity is greater on Facebook than it is on MySpace? Or that 25-34 year-old men are more likely to use LinkedIn and Flickr than other groups?
That's according to a recent study conducted by Rapleaf, a San Francisco-based company that specializes in social web research, which analyzed the demographics of 49.3 million people across 14 social networks.
Some of the highlights:
Each person in the study participated in an average of 2-3 social networks.
Women are more likely to post photos than men
MySpace usage peaks with 17-18 year-olds, the drops considerably. Rapleaf's assumption: once Myspace users graduate from high school, they switch over to using Facebook as their primary social network.
